Racing away from volcanic ash.

Today I was in a spin class and because my legs refused to go faster, I engaged the power of the mind to make me fly like the wind. In a bid to make me cycle as fast as possible I pretended that I was cycling away from volcanic ash – you should have seen me go! As I write this I am slightly embarrassed and keep questioning if this is the kind of thing you actually share with people…

Anyway as I lay in my bath thinking about the techniques I had to employ to push myself that little bit further, I realised that the mind really can take us a lot of places. It is such a cliche but how we think really will and does affect what we do.

That said, I wonder what peril I will be escaping at my next gym session?

About Plantain Periodicals

Hello! Welcome to the Plantain Periodicals blogs. The name stems from the kitchen moments I had with my friends at university cooking plantain and planning our lives together. I have used this space as a window into my mind and the way I make sense of all my experiences through writing. This is where I share those conversations and moments that happen inside my head as a young woman growing up in 21st century London. Hopefully you'll be entertained and also learn a thing or two. My main blog ad: My literature blog: NMx
